Enel X and AMP Capital join forces to boost electric public transportation

Enel X and AMP Capital have joined forces to establish a joint venture for the development of electric public transportation infrastructure in the Americas. Enel X is the Enel Group’s advanced energy services business line, and AMP Capital is a global investment manager.

AMP Capital and Enel X see changing the energy sector with demand of a clean, sustainable future, with electric mobility, as a “responsible” investment opportunity. Under the agreement, the parties will jointly invest in the development and leasing of vehicles for electric ground mass public transportation and associated infrastructure for the vehicles’ storage, charging, repair and operation in the Americas.

AMP Capital holds an 80% controlling interest and Enel X holds a 20% interest in the joint venture. Enel X will also provide development and administrative services to the joint venture. The joint venture currently owns a fleet of 433 operating electric buses and associated charging infrastructure in Santiago de Chile, which were developed by Enel X over the past two years as part of some projects.
