Lithium Urban, Fourth Partner Energy and HIDCO to set up EV charging station in Kolkata

Lithium Urban Technologies, Fourth Partner Energy HIDCO have joined forces to set up an EV charging station at New Town, Kolkata under the new brand Powerbunk. According to the companies, this will be among the country’s largest public charging stations.

Lithium Urban Technologies is known for its zero emission transport service, it has a fleet of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and associated charging infrastructure. The company operates nearly 1,100 electric Veritos sedans in cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune and is looking to add 2,000 more electric vehicles by the end of the next financial year. The company is also planning to add 1000 EVs in Kolkata in 2-3 years’ time resulting into an investment of Rs 150 Crore

Fourth Partner Energy is one of India’s leading distributed solar energy firm focusing on building and financing solar projects across the private and public sectors for commercial, industrial and institutional entities. HIDCO, West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation, is a public sector undertaking.

The West Bengal Government is also working on Green City Mission under which it is promoting sustainable public transport and focusing on increasing the use of battery operated vehicles. Therefore the initiative by the companies is also in line with the policy of the state government. WBSEDCL, West Bengal’s power distribution company is also planning to set up e-vehicle charging points at strategic locations in the state and introduce a large number of e-vehicles in its fleets.
